Got a quick story for you today that’ll provide you with an (almost) endless well of email ideas.
Check it:
During the covid lockdowns, I picked up lockpicking as a hobby. Not for any nefarious means. Just for fun…
So I visited my local locksmiths to pick up some padlocks to practice on…
And boy, oh boy…
You should have seen the look on the shop assistant’s face when I told him what I was buying these locks for.
PURE DISGUST.
No joke, his face could have curdled milk. I think he thought I was a criminal.
Apparently, admitting you’re into lockpicking… even as a harmless hobby… makes some folk think you’re up to no good.
Heh!
Anyways, that bloke’s reaction was kinda amusing to me…
But what’s more…
Visceral reactions like these are an absolute gold mine of fodder for ideas to email your list about.
Especially when you spot them among your target customers and audience.
And I ain’t just whistling about reactions of disgust.
Curiosity, annoyance, excitement, frustration, relief, envy, insecurity, hope, anger, pride. The list goes on…
Some examples for you:
Reaction: You’re selling a workout program and you notice gym-goers are infuriated by people who don’t wipe down equipment after using it.
Email idea: What’s worse: leg day… or the sweaty slob who left the bench dripping?
===
Reaction: You’re selling shoe lifts for men and you notice some short guys feel self-conscious when their girlfriend looks taller than them in heels.
Email idea: Tired of feeling shorter on date night? Here’s a discreet way to get your confidence back.
===
Reaction: You’re selling a photography course, and notice that photographers hate when people ask, “Can you bring your camera to take some free pics?”
Email idea: The polite way to say, “No, I won’t shoot your wedding for free.”
===
I could go on all day, but I think you get the idea.
Any time you can tap into strong, emotional reactions that your audience can relate to, you’re onto a winner.
So rack your noggin for all the things that get your audience excited or riled up, and you’ll have a slew of email ideas to keep you going for months.
Better still:
If you qualify to work with me, I can even handle all the ideation and hard work for you.
